A chic hotel with an incredible beach and delicious food! We lived in a water villa - spacious and cozy. There is an interesting cafe for lunch Crab snack - excellent crab and avocado dishes. There is also a main buffet restaurant, everything is very tasty and a large selection of dishes! I recommend the hotel!!!
Nice hotel. Beautiful territory. An island of sufficient area. A very cool white sand beach. But there are also many disadvantages. The buffet can only be noted for high-quality breakfasts, for dinner there is a very specific Thai or Maldivian cuisine in the main. A modest choice. There are almost no vegetables. There are few fruits. There are practically no Russian-speaking staff. The menu is only in English.the language. And in general, the service leaves much to be desired for a hotel of this price category. If you raise the work of the staff to a higher level, then the hotel is an excellent place to relax. So far, at the moment, I would not have returned a second time.

This review is for those who are considering their vacation at the Finolhu Hotel on Kanifushi Island in Baa Atoll. I must say right away that this is not our first time in the Maldives, there is something to compare it with, and this hotel leaves the best impressions. You can even say that he is one of the best. Yes, the hotel is expensive, but the price-quality here corresponds to the stated. There is a high level of service here, at least the hotel staff is very keen on this. I will try to make my review of this hotel as objective as possible, so let's go.
First, and perhaps most importantly, and what you can also read in other reviews, there is a very friendly atmosphere here. Everything from your butler to the coral cleaner on the beach, everyone greets you, and not just like that, but with a smile and friendly. The work of management is immediately felt, and it is on the top five. The flight from Male to the island takes only 30 minutes if the flight is direct, without transportation to other hotels. It looks like the hotel practices direct flights. Seaplanes land inside the lagoon, it's impressive when viewed from the ground, when you see them land, flying over the spit. You will be greeted by the hotel staff, a welcome coconut with the hotel's label and the director of work with tourists Elina, who communicates with everyone who arrives. The mood immediately becomes positive, even if you are tired of a long flight. The hotel will provide you with a personal butler upon arrival. First, we were given Butler Umar, a Maldivian, English-speaking, pleasant and smiling young man. We really liked him. Thanks to him for our first day on the island. Then, at our request, Maria Butler was assigned to us. I wanted to communicate with Butler in Russian. The hotel hears the wishes of its guests and goes to meet them. We have read a lot about Maria in other reviews. And, indeed, she turned out to be a very pleasant, polite and very obliging girl. We are very grateful to her for our escort on the island, her high responsibility and punctuality. All villas in 2020, after the change of owners of the resort, underwent a complete renovation, the villas are new, the plumbing is new, the equipment is new, the decoration is in bright colors, everything is reasonable and convenient. The hotel is relatively new, all the design is designer, pleasing to the eye. We really liked our villa. Cleaning twice a day, our cleaner was above all praise. Dental and shaving supplies are provided by the hotel upon your request. The rest is already in the room.
The hotel has 34 villas located on land and 90 villas on the water. That is, three quarters of the guests live on the water. Some water villas are located very far out in the ocean, but this is not a problem. A butler will always come for you in a buggy on your call. Therefore, buggies scurry around the island incessantly. There are no bicycles for guests here. Only villa cleaners ride bicycles.
There is a spit on the island, about two kilometers long. In the local Divehi language, "Finolu" means a sandbank or spit. Since it is not close to walk along the spit, and it is not easy enough in the heat, the hotel took care of its guests and placed a refrigerator with 0.25 bottles of drinking water and three sun loungers approximately in the middle of the spit. Walking along the spit, you can help the hotel in collecting garbage that the ocean constantly throws ashore. To do this, there are two boxes with garbage bags in the middle of the spit. They write in the reviews that the hotel is located on 4 islands, but this is not true. There is one island, and in three places of the spit there are islands of greenery and palm trees, which are mistaken for separate islands. In one of these islands of greenery (the middle one) there is an alakart restaurant Crab Sheck - Crab Hut. The best restaurant on the island, the best cuisine and the best waiters are here.
And the best of the best here is the Maldivian waiter Upul. There are lunches and dinners here, but not every day. You need to book it through Butler. The tables are on the sand, as in Thailand. You can get here either by a spit, but it's (remember) two kilometers and 20 minutes on foot in the heat. Either from 12:30 every half hour, a wooden Dhoni boat goes to the spit from the pier, or a speedboat with a big wave. Just five minutes and you're in the restaurant. The restaurant is open for lunch almost daily and in the evenings twice a week, on Monday and Friday. There is also a Japanese alyakart restaurant Kanusan and an Arabic alyakart restaurant Arabian Grill. They work only in the evenings. Kanusan stands on the ocean, dinner is held to the sound of waves, Arabian stands on the beach next to the main restaurant. There is no dress code. The main Beach Kitchen restaurant (Beach Kitchen) is open in the morning, afternoon and evening. The food is very good everywhere. Our huge thanks for the excellent work of the waiters Nippi (Nippi), Sameer (Samer), Jaleer (Jaler). Their excellent service made our stay even better. Very high-quality Tatinger, Creman and Perrier champagne is served for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There are no complaints about nutrition. The only comment to the hotel is that there is no menu in Russian anywhere, but they are working on it. The hotel has a Milk Lab coffee shop where you can drink good coffee, have ice cream and juices. There are only four tables. Near Palm Beach. We came here every day. The hotel has three power systems: Half Board, All Inclusive and AI Premium. To get the most comfortable stay at this hotel, you need to take a premium package.
There are three beach areas in different parts of the island. Palm Beach (Palm Beach) a small palm beach is located at the entrance to the water villas and consists of 20 sun beds for 20 people. The Beach Club is a large Beach Club, located next to the main restaurant and next to the bar, at the exit to the spit, and consists of about 50 double sofas for 100 people. There are umbrellas, there is a shower, there is a bar nearby, there is a swimming pool. Many people relax here, not in villas. The beach is very good, the only thing is, when going to this island, take coral slippers with you, it will be very useful, there are coral fragments on the sandy bottom. There is a beach area with umbrellas and sun beds on the spit near the Crab Shek restaurant, but it is very hot there during the day. There is fine white sand everywhere on the island, and everyone walks barefoot here. Do not forget to take free flippers, masks and snorkels at the diving center. There is a home reef, but I can't give it an objective assessment because of the weather, there was a strong wind and the sea was stormy. We have not seen turtles, stingrays and sharks on the reef, although they say that they are here. But there is a very strong current along the reef that can pull you into the open ocean. Be careful. Access to the reef is possible only from the stairs from the water villas, or from the beach near the spa. There is no other approach from the island, there are stones everywhere on the shore. There is a rope stretched along the reef in the sea, this is specially so that in extreme situations you would have at least some help. The weather in the Maldives changes instantly, strong winds can blow and a rope can be a salvation. The hotel is thinking about the safety of its guests. This is the first time I've seen in the Maldives that when you snorkel on a reef, a safeguard (lifeguard) is specially watching you.
Villas on the ground with rooms 501-518 and 701-702 overlook their beach on a nearby local island, where ships are repaired, the view is anyone's. But the hotel cannot influence this in any way. Villas on the ground with rooms 301-318 overlook the lagoon at the place where the planes land, there is the roar of engines and a strong smell of kerosene. Be careful when choosing villas. The contingent of guests is mainly British, Chinese, Russians, Germans and Italians. There are a lot of families with children, even very young ones. The children don't bother much, they're in the pool all day.
The Russian-speaking staff at the hotel are the director Elina, Maria Butler, the manager at the Arabic restaurant Leela, the girl at the store, Kristina and Sergey at the diving center. Communication with Elina takes place daily. She tries to make a positive contribution to each guest, her energy charges you for a good rest. Maria's benevolence is very endearing. The pleasantness of Lila brings an evening mood. Here, on this island, I really caught a relaxation and got a good positive charge. At the white party (all in white) held by the hotel on Kos weekly on Fridays, we met the general manager of the hotel Steven, a very sociable person. Now it became clear why all the workers on the island are so smiling and friendly. I really don't want to leave here. I want to stay here, but alas…
