The building was damaged during the Second World War – it completely burned out and a part of the wall of one of the corner entrances collapsed. Later, it underwent several upgrades that changed the overall appearance of the building. An extension of the volume was also made at the corner of the building at the intersection of Pervomaiskaya Street and Yatsyno Street, as a result of which the original features of constructivism were lost. The building acquired an appearance characteristic of the Stalinist Empire style.
