I stayed at Diamond Old City Hotel, Fatih with my family for 6 days, and unfortunately, it was a very disappointing experience.
Upon arrival, we were greeted not just by the receptionist, but also by rats moving freely from the ground floor to the breakfast area in the basement. Just imagine how "tasty" the breakfast could be with rats roaming around — it was shocking and unhygienic.
My original booking was for 7 days, but since I had paid in advance, I had no option but to stay. Otherwise, I would have left immediately.
Some key issues:
Rude and unprofessional hotel owner. I requested early check-in and early check-out due to flight timings. He charged me €50 for early check-in and was extremely rude during the conversation.
My kids accidentally broke one tea cup, and the owner charged me €10 for a single cup.
Breakfast was not tasty and lacked variety.
The rooms are extremely small. They squeeze in 3 beds in a room where you can barely fit one. There’s hardly any space for luggage.
Corridors are very narrow. Two people can't cross without touching each other.
One day, my kids were locked inside the room for over an hour because the door lock malfunctioned.
The lift is tiny, barely fits 1-2 people, and was out of order 3 times in 6 days.
When I asked the receptionist about the rats, he smiled and said, “You will not see them again.” But obviously, the problem was never resolved.
They don’t clean the rooms daily.
The washroom is tiny, has no exhaust fan, and hot water is not always available. It’s very uncomfortable.
In conclusion, I strongly advise families and travelers to avoid this hotel. The conditions are unhygienic, the management is unprofessional, and the overall environment is not safe or comfortable — especially for kids.

Excellent hotel, has everything you need, Wi-Fi, refrigerator, kettle, tea and sugar, hairdryer, soap, shower gel, slippers. Delicious breakfasts. Good location, within walking distance of all the main attractions. I recommend it!!!

Great hostel. Cozy, compact, clean. A good breakfast, well-fed. Convenient location, near the metro, bus stop. Not far from the center. Eminenyu Marina is within walking distance. I recommend.
