It was interesting to visit the arboretum. Basically, everyone was walking by themselves, reading signs about trees.
But my friend and I did not fail to talk to an employee of the park, who was happy to show us special trees and even treated us to unusual fruits of the "marmalade tree" by knocking down a tall bamboo stick from a tall tree. I don't know, there is such a tree in the kindergarten, we saw it for the first time.
And I was also in awe of the ancient magnolia tree!
In general, if you are in the mood, you can take a walk in the park, having a lot of fun.
Sukhumi Arboretum is located in the eastern part of the city. It was founded at the end of the 19th century. More than 850 plant species from all over the globe are collected here. Moreover, the local flora accounts for no more than 1%. The arboretum is decorated with an alley of South American elephant palms.
The arboretum is closed to the public.
For 500 rubles in cash (January 2025), you can walk for 20 minutes under supervision. We did not find any plants other than botsad.
From the pleasant: an affectionate escort dog.
And we rested in the first half of July 2023. The impressions are the best. The hotel is small, the staff is friendly, there is a gorgeous park around, breakfast is in the fresh air, it's quiet, the birds are singing. Yes, the hotel is high, but it is better to walk among such beauty, no fitness club is needed. I recommend it to those who like to be outdoors.
We had a rest together at the end of April 2023. The place is amazing, the air is clean, the birds are not silent..those who want peace of mind on vacation and solitude..This way for you. Friendly staff, clean, the breakfasts are excellent. Rooms without claims to a suite, just to spend the night, everything is there. Air conditioning, TV, large balcony with views of the arboretum and the sea. I definitely advise those who like hiking, because you need to climb a hill 700 meters to the hotel, but among the variety of plants. We liked it. Thanks to all the staff from Elena and Tatiana for their hospitality.
The agropark is closed to the public, the current residence of the president of Abkhazia is there, guards are not even allowed to stand at the gate, she was waiting for her son - he was trailing behind
There are no complaints about the park itself.
This area turned out to be closed. The president's residence is located there. For 200rubles in cash, a talkative man in a military uniform will walk you down the path in 20 minutes. And everything. You can't walk by yourself, only accompanied. Considering that the territory of the arboretum is huge, you will see at most 1/100 of it. I don't recommend it.

How do you walk around the arboretum? It says the residence of the president. The guard won't let you in. Either someone is confusing me, or I'm poking at the wrong gate.
Very polite and friendly staff, clean everywhere, easy to navigate, with very low funding, it is clear that the staff are trying to keep the park in good condition.
The park has been closed to citizens and tourists since March 2020, the president has isolated himself, turning the park into his own residence; the rest of Sukhumi's parks, including the botanical garden, are open to the people
It's a very interesting place. There is something to see... and not only plants! The view from the residence is simply amazing!

There are more than 800 species of plants, but not all of them have a signature. You can walk to Stalin's dacha, a lot of interesting things, a walk for the whole day.
