A great resort!!! The sea is warm without jellyfish. The Chinese are hospitable. There are a lot of restaurants and cafes, respectively, a lot of food. The prices are reasonable. In the evening there is a place to walk, concerts, songs, music. Lots of fresh fruit. Big supermarkets, pineapple vodka is awesome!!! The city is clean, the rooms are clean and everything is there: towels, three pieces plus beach clothes per person, white bathrobes, slippers, toothbrushes with paste. In the shower, shampoo, shower gel, balm and body gel. Tea, coffee, sugar bags and a kettle. Big rooms!!! There are no mosquitoes or flies. The city is clean. Go ahead, you won't regret it!!!

A huge disadvantage that spoiled all the impressions was the restrictions on the beach, almost a pioneer camp. You can swim only in three pens of 20 meters each, two of which were closed almost all the time, the whole area comes to swim in the remaining one, but it is also closed at the slightest wave. If the situation doesn't change, we won't go again.

Dadonghai Beach is a very beautiful, clean, Hawaiian–style beach with clean sand, wide coastline and strong waves. The sand on the beach is yellow and fine. There are no insects. There are a lot of beautiful shady palm trees, under which it is very pleasant to sunbathe. There are a large number of sun loungers on the beach, both free from hotels and paid, lifeguards are on duty, who control that no one swims in strong waves and after 6 p.m.

It's a great place. We had a rest at the end of March 2025. The best time to relax, as for me, is not very hot yet, moderate humidity levels, and the sea is already very warm, which allows you to enjoy swimming without much discomfort (the average water temperature at that time was 28 degrees). Although the beach is state-owned, it is clean, there are a lot of sun beds (although they are paid, but we initially knew what we were counting on). Beach bars are a separate plus - you can buy one dish or cocktail and relax, enjoy the sea view, pleasant music and the atmosphere of eternal summer.
In general, I really enjoyed my vacation, we will definitely come back here more than once. ☺️

Impressions of "then" and "now":
If I had written this review in 2018, I would have undoubtedly given **5 stars**. Dadonghai then captivated me with its vibrant Chinese flavor, authentic atmosphere, and perfect balance between amenities and the local spirit.
Why are there 4 stars now?
Unfortunately, when I came back after a while, I couldn't get the highest score. The main reason is strong Russification. The signage, menu, and staff are all aimed at Russian–speaking tourists. They're calling you everywhere. For me, it has lost the very unique "Chinese" charm that many people travel to Asia for. The beach has become noticeably very crowded, which adds to the fuss and reduces comfort.
Who is Dadonghai suitable for NOW?
*For beginners in Sanya and China: This is the perfect "launching pad"! It's easy to get comfortable here: figure out the location (the city center is nearby), try both Chinese and adapted cuisine (without fear of ordering "incomprehensible"), understand the transport system (buses, taxis) and get to the main attractions. Everything is at hand and clear.
* Budget travelers: Still one of the most affordable places to stay in Sanya, especially compared to Yalongwan.
Alternative for families (Yalongwan / Yalong Bay):
Dadonghai is not the best choice for holidays with children. Yalong Bay is much more suitable. This is a zone of fashionable hotels, where everything is created for children: huge pools with slides, water towns, children's clubs, animation, safe and clean beaches. The hotel territories themselves are a resort with entertainment. Yes, there are Russified cafes there too, but the atmosphere is more resort-like and relaxed. Minus Yalongwan:it is remote from the city and the main attractions of Sanya. This is a place for a "hotel" vacation.
Dazhonhai has transformed from an authentic Chinese beach into a convenient, but very "Russian" and lively tourist hub. It is perfect for your first experience of Sanya if you are looking for an inexpensive, central location and are not afraid of crowds. But if you appreciate the Chinese flavor or are traveling with children for the most comfortable beach and hotel vacation, look towards Yalongwan, despite its remoteness and higher prices.
And the most important thing is the beach: Dadonghai is closed at 19.00, a patrol oversees it and makes sure that no one is in the water, on the one hand this is a plus, but on the other hand, why can't I go knee-deep and flop on Dadonghai on vacation? The sand is different than on Yalong and the beaches are wide. Important: the entrance to the water on Dadonghai is smoother, there are fences for swimming, on Yalong there is one fence for swimming, as well as a beach with a steep entrance to the water.

It doesn't reach 5 stars. Dadonghai Cafe is a good place to eat. Large portions, fast service, understand Russian. It's enough to have dinner and take it with you for lunch. In any case, do not have dinner if you come across a Slavyanka cafe on the way. The service is terrible, the waiter is running around, but it's no use. We ordered salad, fish and salad. Dadonghai Bay is very beautiful, the beach is urban, clean, the sand is fine, there are no insects. Umbrellas are paid.
There is a promenade with numerous cafes and live music for every taste.
Gymnastics is held in the main square in the morning, dancing in the evening, free of charge.
There are a lot of food places in Dadonghai Bay, shops with tea, silk, souvenirs, also for every taste and purse.
Also, there are three large stores: Summer-with expensive brands, Winter-with souvenirs, tea, etc., Pineapple-crazy and Chinese clothes in the middle price category. There is a large supermarket in Pineapple with good products and prices.
Nearby is the Deer Turned its Head Park, I really liked it, gorgeous views from the mountain to Sanya, the park itself is also very beautiful, there are many locations for photos.
The big disadvantage of this bay is the limitations of bathing places. There are only three areas where you can swim. If the tide is high, then it's fine, you can swim. But if the tide is out, it's just knee-deep.
In general, Dadonghai Bay is very lively for outdoor activities.

I visited Dadonghai many times before the pandemic. For the first time since the pandemic. Nature, sea, sand-everything is great!!! I was disappointed with the innovations: the territories of permitted swimming are limited (now there are only 4 of them, and people, like in a pen, are forced not to swim, but to stand between two ropes, given the large number of swimmers).
Swimming time is limited: at 19 o'clock the pens are closed, swimming is prohibited. Some pens were closed even with minimal waves. People were forced to huddle in one pen.
Hotels no longer have their own territories with sun beds and umbrellas, so they are not responsible for the cleanliness of the beaches. It has become much dirtier, there is a lot of garbage, and the quality of cleaning has decreased. the beach is dirty. But the main disadvantage is still the restriction of bathing places.

Dadonghai has a lot of cafes, but the food has already been adapted to Russians, not spicy, in short, not China. Yalong Bay Bay is a very good hotel, but again, there are many retirees, there are no young people, there are no bars on the beach. It's very strange. Beaches and sea for 5 c+. Beer can be bought on the beach from the Chinese, they are located near the beach next to the sheraton. Sanya Bay is a 5 c+ beach and sea, but the hotels are far from the coastline, there are many cafes, restaurants. The food is good, but it must be said to be prepared like for the Chinese. Russians, if you are going somewhere and want to experience the culture and flavor of the country, you do not need to teach them how to cook) eat what they have prepared for you. I'm not going with my family, it's very boring. I'll definitely come back for a couple of days after my business trip. The hotels are good. Night 3509 rub. There is a swimming pool, room 40 m2. However, this year it was impossible to swim, they made paddocks out of buoys, the depth is waist-deep, the people are dark, rescuers are driven out of the sea at the slightest waves. Dadonhai has deteriorated. But in the evening it was good - they built a long promenade with many beach clubs, restaurants and bars with live music.
