Other than having a large portion of the mall filled with clothing shops and such, I could easily get my groceries from here too

A great big hypermarket . Everything can be found here. There are even products from Russia. Prices for Dubai are not the most expensive.

There is a pedestrian crossing directly from the hotel. A good store with a large selection and reasonable prices.
