The bust was erected in memory of the Georgian journalist David (Dato) Bolkvadze, who died during the civil war in Georgia in 1993. The cameraman of the British television company WTN, 23-year-old David Bolkvadze, was captured on October 28, 1993 by supporters of Zviad Gamsakhurdia in the area of the city of Khobi. He was taken to the hospital with several gunshot wounds to the abdomen, where he died of his wounds soon after.
On the monument is the inscription "the sixth commandment "thou shalt not kill"
