We visited the Big Buddha in February and it's not working at full capacity right now, but the views from here are simply breathtaking. We went up on foot along a picturesque path – it was steep in places, but it was worth it, especially in tense places there was a rope stretched as a railing. Part of the way passes almost through the jungle and the plantations of hevea, very atmospheric! On the way, we even saw signs of monkeys in the trees. On the way to the top, there is a cozy view cafe to relax, drink, and eat.
There are local monkeys hanging around the souvenir shop upstairs – they turned out to be quite cultured guys, unlike those in Monkey Town.
A good atmosphere conveys the whole culture of Thailand. It is always beautiful and has a good view. Right in the jungle, you are sitting and around you the fresh air of Thailand and the trees, beauty!
It was built straight out of granite.
It's nice to arrive in the morning so quietly.
I'M WARNING YOU!!! THERE ARE A LOT OF ARROGANT MONKEYS WHO JUST JUMP, AND IF THEY DON'T GIVE WHAT THEY ASK FOR, THEY BITE IN BURSTS. IF YOU ARE WITH CHILDREN, I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT, I JUMP STRAIGHT INTO STROLLERS.
SHE JUMPED ON HER MOTHER AND SNATCHED THE PHONE AWAY. THE ONLY DRAWBACK OF THE MONKEY!!!
The Big Buddha is currently closed for restoration, but this does not prevent you from visiting the observation deck around it, it offers a beautiful view. There is a shop at the top with quite reasonable prices by the standards of the tourist area at the top of the mountain
I recommend going up to the beach by a walking route, we went from Karon, set a walking route from its beach and see how to get there. The route is suitable only for the most persistent and brave tk passes through the jungle
We have already visited Big Buddha in 2020, a wonderful place. It is currently closed for repairs. But, you can take a picture nearby, and go to view point, meet the sunset, take beautiful photos and videos. An atmospheric, stunning place
And be careful with the monkeys, they like to steal phones and anything that doesn't fit well. 😁😉
Everything is great, but the Buddha is closed for renovation. In the end, we just bought some water and sat on a bench on the observation deck, the view is gorgeous! We went up on a bike. If you walk, go in the morning while it's not hot.
One of the attractions of Phuket, which is definitely worth seeing with your own eyes. The structure is really majestic and fascinating. In general, I am personally attracted to Thai culture and religion. In the temple complex, in addition to the Largest Buddha, you can see a lot of other sculptures, see monkeys (for extreme people, you can even fight with them and take away a banana, hehe, a joke), see the monks of the temple and undergo a rite of spiritual purification to purify karma. There is also a magnificent view from the temple grounds. I recommend spending time on this location, you will definitely not regret it.
For the second decade, the author has been observing the construction of this temple.
Ever since when it was a whole quest to get to it, when instead of a road there was a direction, and instead of a navigator there was a tourist paper map.
In recent years, the road has been overgrown with related businesses, a temple parking lot, a requirement for women to cover their shoulders and legs below the knees, a main staircase and observation decks, and a nominal hour of work until six in the evening.
For the year 2024, unfortunately, due to a landslide that descended from the slope of the temple, which claimed human lives, the temple was closed until the trial.
Let's hope that the authorities will force the developer to return to the agreed project, and the temple will be opened.
So far, you can only climb up to the makeshift observation deck to the temple.
The author highly recommends that you go up to the temple (and down) on foot, and the most prepared ones should run.
An indescribable impression awaits you.
PS: if you are visited by the idea of celebrating the New Year on the observation deck, be prepared for the fact that this glorious idea will be visited by more than one hundred people. You will not be alone at the temple, however, the view of the night city illuminated by the flashes of fireworks is worth it.
PS2: if you still believe in "how you meet NG, you will spend it" - do not believe it.
The author met the year 2020 on the observation deck of the specified temple, covid began a few months later, and the borders were closed for several years.
These are the pies with kittens \_(ツ)_/
It's a cool place. I walked there from the Kata. The main road is closed because a landslide occurred a year or two ago. So part of the route has to go along the trail in the jungle, which is also very fun. The big Buddha itself is closed and you can only look at it from behind the fence. But in general, the observation deck offers a view of two sides of the island. Interesting, I recommend it
The Big Buddha is impressive in its size. It offers a wonderful view of Phuket Island.
There are a lot of monkeys here, but they are not recommended to feed or pet them, they can scratch or even bite. Keep your things with you.
We arrived in the evening, there were a lot of tourists. Before visiting, study the rules of conduct and dress code.
The temple grounds are very beautiful and you can make a wish.
It's a great place. Nice view. We meditated. We walked up through the jungle, met egrets along the way, and collected rubber from trees. It's better to wear running shoes. It is better to wear clothes with closed knees
It 's good that we managed to visit this legendary place a couple of times!!! We rode a bike ourselves . But now it is closed after a landslide or a landslide and it is unlikely to open, there is no information about it anywhere in the city, more detailed information can be found on the Internet.
It's a pity that you won't be able to visit the Buddha this year. You can look from the side, but you couldn't get close because of a landslide or something like that. I hope everything will be repaired and restored by next year, and it will be possible to walk there.
The entrance is closed in 2025. Observation deck on the left but from the mountain to the city . You can 't approach the statue .
There are a lot of people like us who arrived , but someone came and everything was closed . This is the second time we wanted to check the box and visit again, but it didn't work out. We only wasted 1000 GB!
I really love this place, I visited it twice on my own without a guide. It's nice to walk around, make a donation in the form of a stone for a temple or a prayer metal leaf and write your dream or message on it. There is a beautiful view of the ocean from the height. A lot of monkeys, be careful)))
Stunning view from the observation deck.
The disadvantage is that the temple does not work.
There is free parking.
Don't approach the monkeys, they can be dangerous!
This is definitely a beautiful place and one of the attractions of Phuket that is worth a visit. But I would like to warn those who want to climb on foot from Karon beach - this is a pretty steep and difficult climb, add heat, humidity, scorching sun here - and after 500 m of climbing there is nothing to breathe and the heart jumps out. I am physically well prepared, I am not overweight, but it was hard to get up, and it is very difficult for my overweight husband. So think twice. There are no special beauties along the way: you can see the collection of rubber, a dilapidated statue, a picturesque swing. And a mountain of plastic bottles. A cafe with rice kvass is waiting for you upstairs). We went up to watch the sunset, but in April the sun sets behind the trees, it's not as beautiful as in the sea. Perhaps another time I would have come there to greet the dawn. In addition, at exactly 18, when the sun is still setting, employees are already actively asking everyone to leave the territory. There were no problems taking the tuk-tuk back to Karon.
Temporarily closed (( The landslide washed away the statue , the locals are examining for safety and strengthening of the soil. It is not known when they will open . You can drive up next to it and take a picture , the view is also beautiful , but they don 't let you into the Buddha 's territory . Parking and a small cafe with a toilet are working.
It is easy to get from Patong by tuk tuk. A little walk and you're there.
You can make your way back down the slope through the jungle, go straight to Karon Beach. Before descending, stop at a very nice cafe on the hillside, which overlooks the Gulf of Thailand.
we climbed by ourselves from Kata Yai beach. meps mi coped and it was not difficult to find the way up through the jungle. but the road itself is hard. Don't go with the kids. It was sometimes difficult for two trained adults. monkeys are only at the entrance to the jungle and already at the top, they have their own place. hide everything from them (even glasses- gives glare) and don't be afraid to go through them. in general, the climb is very interesting. but on September 24, they did not go to the Buddha - geodetic works are underway due to landslides, the territory is closed. We only got to the observation deck. You can take a taxi back, there are many of them. There are a couple of simple cafes along the way
an incredible place. I recommend you to visit. gorgeous view from the observation deck to the beaches of Kata, Kata noi and Karon. there are monkeys, but be careful if you have a jar or a bottle in your hands - they take everything away. you can also make a wish there, leave a note on a metal heart or a small brick (the temple is still under construction). you can also get to the monk, he ties a thread on his arm. on the way to the Buddha, you can stop by and feed the elephants.
A beautiful place, you can get to the top, you can climb on your own. An interesting walking area. The view from the height is stunning. There are many sculptures, benches and gazebos in the shade.
A great viewing place, a huge territory of the temple accessible to everyone. Construction work is still ongoing, but this does not interfere with tourists. On the way there are monkeys, quite nimble and impudent can "squeeze" something valuable from you, so hold it tightly in your hands and better put it away in a bag. On the territory, you can tie a ribbon from a monk and make a wish, for a nominal fee, so to speak, how much is not a pity
I recommend taking a Tuk Tuk back and forth. From Karona 1000 baht. He will wait at the top for 15 minutes. There's nothing to do there for longer, just go and see the views. Keep in mind that monkeys sleep until lunch. You can choose to attend with or without them.
There is no point in going there specifically - Big Buddha is closed due to the death of 13 tourists in a landslide, but if you are nearby, you can stop by. The views from the parking lot are amazing, drinks are sold, there is a toilet. It is better to take an antiseptic with you .
The best panorama of the island. Breathtaking height and beautiful territory.
Of the subjective disadvantages, there are hopots in the form of local monkeys, but on Buddha they are the most calm of all the options from the island.
The area in front of the Big Buddha is open, you can come by taxi, bike, or even walk, but the temple is closed and you can't see the front, everything is fenced off. And when they will open or whether they will open at all is unknown.
The most beautiful place! The view is breathtaking!! We took a taxi ourselves, and on the way you pass an elephant farm and a tiger reserve. There is still a hiking trail to it, but we honestly walked only half of it, it is very difficult to climb at an angle of 45 degrees, plus we were with a child)
The Buddha is closed to the public. Everything is fenced off, there is a guard and there is no way to enter the territory. You can only see the statue from afar from the side of the road.
A gorgeous place, the best view of the island, but it has been closed since 08/09/24 due to a landslide that descended on the territory of kata, it is unknown when it will be opened. Taxi drivers and excursions are taken to the site next to the Buddha, but the entrance to the complex remains closed
Beauty.
Beautiful view of the city, especially at dawn. The photo does not convey the splendor of the view. Admission is free, but clothing must cover the knees and shoulders. Otherwise, you will have to buy a cape for 150 Baht.
There is a souvenir shop.
You can admire the monkeys, but it's better not to feed them.
You can get there by taxi. But it's more difficult to call a taxi from the mountain. We'll have to wait.
A taxi cost about 400 Baht one way (comfort +). IDriver
A very monumental structure) The Big Buddha is visible from almost any southern point of the island and seems small. But up close, its size is amazing. There are also good viewing points on the island in this location.
A great place to visit. Incredible view! The sunset is beautiful! But why does no one write in the reviews that if you came there on your own or by taxi to watch the sunset, then you will have a problem! It gets dark very quickly. They are being kicked out of the territory very aggressively! Into the darkness of the road without lanterns. A taxi costs 2 times more expensive. And in our case, we got from Surin beach for 600 baht, and we were offered to go down for 1300 baht. At the same time, if you call a Bolt taxi, the waiting time is 40 minutes. And you will spend this time in the night jungle without lights. You won't be allowed to stay in a place where there are lanterns. That's what I wanted to say - be afraid of the Buddha!!! Everything is very strange.... Moreover, apparently the taxi mafia of this place, because the taxi drivers take the order and then cancel it. In general, getting out is a problem
It works from 6:30 to 18:30, NOT AROUND THE CLOCK! then they start to drive them harshly out of the park, they don't even let them wait for a taxi in the parking lot, it's just terrible! The park itself is interesting, there is a mountain of monkeys at the foot of the Buddha, there are a lot of them here, monkeys immediately come up, if you don't have bananas, they are not interested. The Buddha statue is really huge and the observation deck is good, the coast is at a glance. In general, I recommend visiting, but we went late, by closing time, because there is misinformation in Yandex maps regarding the park's work schedule
A must-visit place in Phuket!
Gorgeous views, lovely monkeys on the territory of the complex, but be careful with them - they can get into the bag blindly)))
Do not forget about the dress code for entering the territory - closed shoulders and knees.
The Buddha itself, as everyone knows, is closed and there is nothing much to do nearby on the site, a maximum of a couple of photos with a view towards the sea
