I am pleasantly impressed with the city.The chic urban infrastructure of the left bank, epic buildings, wide streets, tourists have a place to roam and something to see.The right bank is bigger than the old buildings from Soviet times, but the order is maintained, it is visible.I didn't see any battered houses or buildings.But the railway station 1 is so-so.Old stuff.At least that's the only thing we saw that we didn't like.

everything you need is there, as at all train stations, but the exits to the platforms are separated, so that with a huge suitcase and a bunch of bags you can go down to the 1st floor via 1 escalator and it is extremely inconvenient? because when you get on the escalator, you need to lift a heavy suitcase and have time to put it next to it, while the balance is lost, the stairs go down, and one person has time to load all the bags next to him and not fall - this must be done either by trying to carry all the cargo up a regular staircase, which is also very difficult if the person is alone. I suggest installing 2-3 freight elevators at both ends of the station, so that you can safely move bags and suitcases from the waiting room from the 2nd floor to the 1st floor of the station.

A very good train station. I was surprised by the cleanliness in the public toilet, and also for FREE! It is a little uncomfortable to sit on cold benches, since they are made of metal, although there are inserts of eco-leather on the seats, but this did not save the back and lower back, especially it was noticeable in older people. I sat waiting for my train for about 40 minutes and then managed to freeze a little, although it was October 5th - a relatively warm autumn! I ask the station administration to take this into account. And so everywhere there is order, cleanliness, responsive staff.

Of the cons:
1) It is located twenty kilometers from the airport, the light is not close;
2) this leads to difficulties with logistics - due to traffic jams, you will even get to the airport by taxi for at least an hour, or even an hour and a half;
3) frequent delays of trains. A couple of days ago, the train to Pavlodar from Turkestan was delayed for two and a half hours. If you have a plane, it will cause big problems.
If the goal is to stay at the train station for a couple of hours, then it will do. More - it will be hard.
