Upon my sojourn in the northern realm of Murmansk, I did find shelter within the noble walls of Asgard Hotel, and verily, my heart rejoiceth for such a choice. The house doth rest in the very bosom of the city—near to squares, to taverns, and to merchants’ stalls—yet spared from the ceaseless clamour of the thoroughfare. Thus did I wander forth with ease by day, and by night enjoy sweet slumber, undisturbed and serene.
The chamber granted me was spotless and adorned with modern graces. The bed, a cradle of softness; its linens kissed with freshness as from morning dew. Though winter did grip the land with icy breath, warmth did dwell within the chamber, ever loyal. Silence, too, was companion to my rest—no murmur from hall nor whisper from the street did reach mine ears.
The keepers of this house, O most gracious souls! From the moment I set foot upon their threshold, they did greet me with cheerful countenance and hearts eager to serve. Full kind they were, and skilled in their duties. Being new to these parts, I sought their counsel, and they did offer it gladly, speaking of places worth the seeing, and of hearths where goodly meals are served. One among them even did speak words of mine own tongue—Turkish!—which brought a smile unbidden to my lips. In their care, I felt as kin, not stranger.
The spirit of the house was warm and inviting, like the hearth of an old friend. Its halls were fair to behold, adorned with woods and hues of gentle flame. The common rooms were ever clean and kept with care. A northern charm did dwell in every corner—a nod to the name Asgard, fit for a hall of olden gods.
All needs were met within mine own chamber. The etheric threads of Wi-Fi did flow swift and sure. As for the baths—they were shared, yet ever so clean, well-stocked with soft towels and fragrant soaps, and graced with looking glass and dryer for the hair.
A full kitchen, shared with fellow travellers, did stand open to all. There did I brew many a cup of tea and coffee, finding comfort as though in my own abode. The welcome was not locked behind time’s gate, for the keepers stood watch both day and night, ever ready to lend aid. Even in late hours, when I did make request, they did answer swift and kind.
Thus say I: the Asgard Hotel, with its central standing and noble service, did exceed mine every hope. The balance betwixt price and grace is a rare and wondrous thing. If ever fate bring me once more to Murmansk, I shall, without pause or doubt, return unto this place.
Most assuredly, I would dwell there again.
