This is the third time my family and I have visited Genghis Khan Airport on our way from Russia to South Korea.
Beautiful new airport. In October 2022, we were there for the first time. The airport has just been opened. Very comfortable benches for relaxing, there are souvenir shops, you can eat at the airport: a Japanese restaurant with a robot waiter, a Burger king.
And we also leave the car there during our absence in a paid parking lot. In summer, 8000 tugriks per day, if less than a month, over a month of storage of 5000 tugriks per day. Payment upon arrival.

A good airport in terms of service and lack of passengers. Everyone wants to check in and boarding and control quickly. But you can't register online at terminals, there are places where you can eat European food and even strange security requirements - they forced you to throw an ordinary cheap plastic lighter into the trash.
They said it was impossible according to international rules, but when I flew from Moscow and Irkutsk to Ulaanbaatar, no one took my lighter away.Maybe later, in the evening, the cleaner takes all the discarded lighters, sells them and shares the proceeds with border guards and customs officers, I don't know what is customary among the Mongols, next time they will take away cigarettes.

So it's comfortable to wait for the plane to Tokyo (and the plane is half empty, Everyone sleeps one at a time on the whole row - on three seats, but get ready- the food is bad, but there is wine.

The need to drive more than an hour to Ulaanbaatar at night to spend the night, and then an hour back is a dubious pleasure. Transport is poorly developed. Only taxis, such Soviet bombers. A good Modern Nomads restaurant in the departure area.
