Despite the growing passenger traffic, the airport is trying to maintain a decent level of service. Passport control and customs offices operate relatively quickly, although queues can be significant during rush hours. Waiting rooms offer a basic set of amenities, including duty-free shops and cafes.
However, like many airports in developing countries, Addis Ababa has its drawbacks. Navigation may seem confusing to beginners, and flight information is not always displayed in a timely manner. In addition, the quality and range of food leaves much to be desired.
In general, Addis Ababa Airport fulfills its main function – it provides transport links.
